Ed Carlsen released his EP Gravity, completing the trilogy of his work built on the theme of &#8216;home.&#8217; The record represents the completion of this journey, having found his way back to both the physical and mental space of what home means.
The Italian pianist and composer return to his roots, finding inner stability in a world beset by anxiety and unease through the journey of writing five piano-electronica pieces. 
&#8220;I grew up taking health and peace for granted, and now that I can&#8217;t anymore, I&#8217;ve found my &#8216;center&#8217;,&#8221; he says. &#8220;This push-pull situation of finding balance during times of most uncertainty was definitely the best thing that ever happened to me.&#8221; Gravity also reflects on letting go of people, habits, and parts of ourselves that aren’t useful to our development. Doing so meant he &#8220;could start hearing the music within, again.&#8221;

Italian composer and producer will finish the trilogy of his work on the theme of finding &#8216;home&#8217; with the upcoming EP Gravity.
After the album Morning Hour which was a reflection on what home is, to project Grains of Gold, a more introspective and accurate description of the home, Gravity symbolizes the return to the roots and completion of Carlsen&#8217;s journey, having found his way back home.
The title alludes to what he describes as an &#8220;inevitable force – one that pulls you back to your roots, but also one that takes you on a journey to find &#8216;home&#8217; within yourself through life.&#8221; It&#8217;s also a record that contemplates the loss of stability and certainty and finding our place in a world beset by anxiety and unease.

The Irish producer and composer known for his deep and moving work released the most mature album to date, a twelve-track album, Angel&#8217;s Share. The project is a free-ranging and genre-bending hybrid of post-classical and electronica, converging elements of ambient, dance, avant-pop, chillwave, and drum &amp; bass.
&#8220;Angel&#8217;s Share is my most mature and personal album to date. The album itself is dedicated to my late father, who passed in 2019. The title is taken from the expression that refers to the percentage of a barrel of whiskey that evaporates &#8211; known as the Angel&#8217;s Share,&#8221; he explains. 
Paddy Mulcahy curates the audio story of the album in three parts, representing the stages of grief. From the track Thomas Street, on which Mulcahy lives, to A Smile On The Left, dedicated to his partner, and What A Leaf Hears, inspired by the poem he wrote late at night, the whole record is threaded with personal details for the listener to unpack. 
The album reflects on the global events in the past 18 months, in the time when Mulcahy experimented with new instruments and different recording techniques, expanding his studio capabilities. It is also the first time that live musicians are on his records, namely drummer Myles O&#8217;Callaghan and violinist Gareth Quinn Redmond. &#8220;As my debut album for XXIM, I really wanted it to sound the very best it could and taking the music to Myles and Gareth allowed me to fully express the emotions I wanted to capture.&#8221;

Paddy Mulcahy releases his new album Angel’s Share

The electro-acoustic duo shares the sequel of their project Positive in a four-track EP Positive &#8211; Piano Visions. This time around, the familiar album tracks come as piano reworks, in a new stripped-down sound.

The duo mostly collaborates remotely, after first encountering each other online after Stimming returned home from a club one night and, having put Lambert&#8217;s latest album on his turntable, reached out to the pianist, who instantly replied.  Notes Lambert:  &#8221;We share aesthetics and tastes but have a very different way of working to get the music where we want it to be. So we work in our respective studios, encouraging each other to leave the safe spaces of our sub-genres, even to explore production techniques far from our usual habits.&#8221;   As Stimming adds: &#8220;It was valuable because the result was better. As we work separately, there’s not a problem.&#8221;

Stimming x Lambert release new EP Positive – Piano Visions

GoGo Penguin released their first EP, Between Two Waves, on XXIM Records, marking a special chapter in their career. The project was recorded at the end of 2021 after the lockdown with a new band member, drummer Jon Scott, who joined pianist Chris Illingworth and bassist Nick Blacka.
The sessions took place at Peter Gabriel&#8217;s Real World Studios, where the band regrouped to explore new ideas and experiment after the challenging months.
&#8220;It was an incredibly meaningful moment for us to be together as a band along with our producers Joe and Brendan, sharing meals like family, enjoying drinks and jokes after long days of work and, most importantly, making music together after so long apart,&#8221; explains Chris Illingworth. 
The outcome of these sessions is the EP that takes inspiration from the duality found in the major events in human lives, leaving it to a listener to make its interpretation and create a unique emotional response.
&#8220;Over the last couple of years, the pandemic has affected everyone; it has brought us together and yet also divided and separated us. In the bands personal lives there has been cause for celebration with the birth of a son but also tragedy with the loss of loved ones. These moments can simultaneously make us feel both loved and isolated, fearful but confident, proud and humbled. For us, the feeling of Ascent is the journey through these experiences in life, always finding another unknown at the end but not something to be scared of, just something new to discover.&#8221;

GoGo Penguin releases new EP Between Two Waves

German pianist and musician Moritz Fasbender presents her EP Rabbits on XXIM:EXPO series. Fasbender&#8217;s intense and compelling sound-world reflects her background in the theatre, her love of radio as a medium, and her affinity with nature. Classically trained, she merges the sound of her grand piano with field recordings and reverb effects, to create experimental electro-acoustic pieces. For this EP, which also features a collaboration track with the Berlin-based electronic trio, Brandt Brauer Frick, she places both the piano and the Prophet synthesizer center stage. 
&#8220;I always start from an atmosphere, a state, rather than from a concrete idea or specific melody. I am more interested in textures and associations than formulated stories. Sometimes intuitively, sometimes explicitly, I&#8217;m looking for sounds that, in their combination, might raise an eyebrow,&#8221; she explaines.
This EP is the fourth in the EXPO series and follows Hideyuki Hashimoto&#8217;s recent EP Fractals, ABBOTT&#8217;s Unfold, and Paddy Mulcahy&#8217;s Tidal Oscillations.

Moritz Fasbender releases her new EP Rabbits (XXIM:EXPO #4)

The Irish composer and producer will share his first full project on XXIM Records this summer. The album Angel&#8217;s Share is dedicated to his late father and as Paddy explains, it represents “my way of coping with the 18 months following our loss, whilst handling a career during a global pandemic, and trying to get back to normality.” 
Thomas Street is the first single off the album: &#8220;This track is a musical love letter to the street on which I live in Limerick City. The intro synth part was written on a MicroFreak synthesizer on my living room floor. The instruments that follow create a lovely warm atmosphere that I instantly fell in love with. A special mention must go to my guest musicians Myles and Gareth who provided the drums and violin. The presence of live instruments really brought the track to life. This was explored a lot more throughout the album.”
